Hey Cara, I just wanted to ask a couple questions about your next complete companion book – I think you mentioned somewhere you guys were looking to release one with the updated spec sometime in FEB? Is this right? Also secondly I was wondering if could make a few polite suggestions for the book as some elements I think really need some better clarification just to simplify things (I hope you dont mind; I mean it purely to improve understanding for people) For certain things I think the book assumes we know certain things too much when we dont; for example in the current CC book with evolutionary theories of sleep; it highlights numerous theories (energy conservation, predation, foraging requirements etc) but it doesnt actually explain simply whether they are seperate theories or actually one whole theory. I found this confusing as many times I didnt know where one theory ended specifically and another started! I thought they all were one single theory! Also other things like functions of sleep and Nature of sleep; I found this very confusing to distinguish between because when questions come up on “nature of sleep” I dont know which I can use? Do I use lifespan changes in sleep? restoration theory? evolutionary theory? Its really unclear and a bit of advice on such things would really be helpful like: or “If functions of sleep is asked; these are the topics you can discuss” just for some better clarity. I hope this helps improve future books and I will keep a sharp eye for your next book for paper 4. many thanks! |

I hope you felt the exam went well. Thanks for your further comments. The new book on A2 exam advice is due out at the end of February, covering Units 3 and 4. The kind of issues you discuss above are covered in this book. However I will bear the points you make in mind when revising the main book which we are doing later this year for september 1012.
